Joy Lynn Gantt joined Malta House in September 2007 as a residential advisor. She shares what brought her to us, some of her favorite memories and other fun facts.
I first learned of Malta House from coworker Diane McMillian, who was also employed there. After conducting some research, I decided to join the team as I believed in the program and believed that I could make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. What I like most about the job is my ability to interact and connect with the moms while also serving as someone who gives them hope and inspiration. I have developed long-lasting, well-respected relationships with a multitude of current and former residents.
My most valued and favorite memories are running into moms in the community and seeing the "JOY" and excitement upon their faces. No matter where I am, whenever I hear "Mrs. Joy," I know it's one of my Malta House moms coming in for a hug, giving me an update on their life, or simply engaging in small talk. So what started out as a part time job became one of my most prized passions.
