To our Malta House community: An important update from our Executive Director regarding COVID-19.
We want you to know the things we are doing to ensure the health and safety of our mothers and babies, and to continue the love and care we have provided for 21 years. In keeping with guidelines from local, state and federal authorities, we are doing everything we can to limit potential exposure to the Coronavirus within our home. All non-program staff are now working remotely, we have asked that all in-kind donation drop-offs be suspended until further notice, and we have halted programming that is usually led by our wonderful and dedicated family of volunteers. In essence, things are pretty quiet around here!
With that being said, here’s what IS happening at Malta House:
- Mothers who are ready to take the next step to move on to their own independent living arrangements continue to pursue potential housing opportunities.
- Studying and remote learning continue for those enrolled in school or certificate programs. We continue to provide transportation to the grocery store, doctor’s appointments and other essential errands.
- A daily routine that is probably similar to what is happening in homes across the country: morning and evening prayer, light chores, cooking, mealtime, games, online learning, fresh air in our courtyard, walks around the block, rest, and even some pajama parties and movie nights!
- Albeit remotely, our development team is hard at work ensuring that we continue to meet the needs of our mothers and babies. We are exploring new and creative ways of fundraising and staying connected with you. As you may know, our most important event of the year has now been scheduled for September 10: A Mother’s Love Spring Gala. Meetings and discussions about this gala are underway, and an announcement will be coming soon about what exactly it will look like. Please stay tuned for further details!
We also want to take this opportunity to thank those who have asked about ways to support our mothers and babies at this time. Of course, it is your financial support that allows us to carry out our mission of ensuring every mother is given opportunity and hope, and every baby is born into safety and love. Yes, even during all this uncertainty and worry, our home remains a place of safety and love, because of you. Please help us with whatever gift you are able.
You can also refer to our Amazon Wish List for ongoing needs of essential household items. We ask that you please pray for the mothers and babies of Malta House. Your prayers and love mean more than we can ever say. A favorite quote of mine is from Mother Teresa: “If there is no peace in the world, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
While unspeakably challenging, there is great beauty in seeing how connected we really are. So lastly, let us pray for peace, as we remember that we do, indeed, belong to each other.
With prayers for your healing and health,

Providing a Nurturing Home Environment
Here is what we’ve been able to accomplish since we first opened our doors in December 1998. None of this would have been possible without the help of many friends and supporters!
We’ve been privileged to help bring 345 new lives into the world.
We’ve helped 319 moms get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.
Nights of Shelter
Since 1998 Malta House has provided more than 1,000 nights of shelter.
