Enriched by our origin, Unfolding in the present, Preparing for the future
Malta House was born in faith. It began in 1993 with five founding members, moved by an acute awareness of young pregnant women, experiencing homelessness with nowhere to go. After many prayerful conversations, they felt called to establish a home where these women and their babies could find sanctuary. By 1998, Malta House, A Beacon of Hope, opened its doors, turning vision into reality and hope into home. We welcome mothers and supporters of all religious beliefs into our community.
Our Foundational Principles
The good work at Malta House is deeply rooted in the Catholic social teaching’s timeless principles:
Our Mission
We provide a safe and nurturing residential home where young mothers and their babies can thrive. Through personalized guidance and unwavering support, we equip residents with the tools to build self-sufficient, hopeful futures.
Our Present Impact & Community
Since opening our doors in 1998, we have grown to four programs: Residential, Nursery, Graduate, and Community Outreach programs.
Our programs and services include:
We have assisted more than 900 mothers and babies (including graduate moms) who passed through our doors. Through our Community Outreach Program, we have served countless families by distributing clothing, diapers, and other essential baby items to address urgent material needs in the community. Volunteers acclaim Malta House as “one of the best missions in Fairfield County,” and our moms form a lasting sisterhood with one another, the staff, Malta House graduates, and the wider community.
But we’re not done yet!!!
The Future
We are exploring new initiatives that will strengthen our path forward. And we welcome your insight and participation in some of these areas:
