Malta House was recently the beneficiary of a precious gift: two baby-bottle drives, hosted respectively by St. Leo Parish in Stamford and Knights of Columbus Council 48 - Bethel. We are grateful for the time and money that these organizations devoted, to ultimately raise more than a combined $8,000 on our behalf.
This is not the first baby-bottle drive that Knights of Columbus Bethel has held for Malta House, said Alan Gambino,Council Grand Knight. “We support faith, family, community and life,” he explained, “which includes the pregnancy support and aid that Malta House provides.”
For those not familiar with baby-bottle drives, they are a fun (and adorable!) way to engage your group (for example, houses of worship, civic organizations, schools, businesses) in fundraising. The organization distributes baby bottles (St. Leo Parish purchased theirs from this vendor), and during a set period of time participants collect spare change, cash, or checks in the bottles.
St. Leo Parish’s bottle drive (its first), began on Mother’s Day and ended on Father’s Day. “We were pleasantly surprised that the response was so generous,” said Diane Mannello, who along with Lisa Harris organized the fundraiser.
