Laurie Stiles

After volunteering with the Malta outreach program for the past 18 months, Laurie joins the Malta House team. Her previous engagement in local non-profits and the Norwalk public school system as a PTO president, fundraiser, volunteer coordinator, and treasurer have given her a broad skill set that enables her to work in concert with the many facets of the Malta House organization.

A passion for connecting healthy eating to underserved populations led Laurie to return to school in her 50s to complete an Associate of Science in Nutrition and become certified as a Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR), earning the college’s Community Nutrition award. During school and for the years following, Laurie worked with Cooking Matters, a non-profit that teaches nutrition and cooking to income-limited participants. After leading a nutrition class for Malta House, Laurie fell in love with the mission, and the rest is history.

After growing up in Western Canada and then starting her family in Texas, Laurie lives in Norwalk with three busy teenagers and her husband, who loves to cook, garden, hike, and travel. She is excited to bring her skills, passion, and organizational superpowers to the Malta House community.
