Nursery Assistant

Founded in 1998, Malta House is poised for growth and is looking for someone who wants to make a measurable and meaningful impact in the lives of babies and toddlers in the care of Malta House. The Nursery Assistant is responsible for the daily implementation of play, teaching, and cleaning in the nursery.

The ideal candidate is a loving, nurturing person with a minimum 1-2 years professional experience in a childcare setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the direct  physical, social, and developmental care of infants and toddlers in the nursery.
  • Educate parents on best practices and recommend proper safety and care under the supervision of the Nursery Teacher.
  • Maintain  a clean, safe, organized, and trauma-informed learning environment in the nursery.
  • Attend necessary professional development trainings and staff meetings. 
  • Maintain confidentiality for all persons served.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to care for children (1:2 adult to infant and 1:4 adult to toddler ratio in accordance with State ratio guidelines), including lifting and carrying, sitting on the floor, playing on playground.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED. Relevant professional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to both children and adults.
  • Active Infant/child CPR certificate.
